About Your Branch
We are the RSPCA Sunderland, Hartlepool, and South Tyneside branch, a small, independent, and local charity deeply committed to supporting pet owners within our community.
Although we share the RSPCA's mission and values, we operate as a completely separate entity from the national society. Our focus lies in providing essential assistance to our local community through various initiatives, such as pet food banks, vet clinic days, education and assisted neutering schemes. We also provide some financial support to assist with the animals brought into the care of the RSPCA National society from our branch area
By dedicating our efforts to the well-being of animals in Sunderland, Hartlepool, South Tyneside and pockets of County Durham and Gateshead, we strive to create a compassionate and nurturing environment for pets and their owners alike.
The branch office is currently open Tuesdays to Fridays - from 9am-5pm weekdays. We are closed on weekends and bank holidays.

Our Community Hub & Charity Shop is open from 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Saturday (closed bank holidays) and has a separate contact to the main branch. You can contact the shop via shop@rspca-sunderland.org.uk

You can contact the office on 0191 380 5636.
We operate as a separate charity under the umbrella of the RSPCA, meaning that all of our funding goes back into supporting our own community of pet owners, and local animals in need. Overseen by a board of trustees, we work alongside private veterinary clinics and surgeries, offering emergency funding, supporting frontline teams, and providing financial assistance towards neutering and microchipping for pet owners on a low income.
We are an administrative, community branch. So, unlike the National RSPCA, we do not have a frontline team of our own, but work in support of their ongoing, essential work. Therefore, while we are unable to act directly when an animal requires an officer’s assistance, we can offer welfare advice, education services, community-based events and financial support.
All animal welfare concerns and reports, including neglect or cruelty, should be reported online to Report cruelty or by phoning 0300 1234 999 Lines are open 8am - 5pm.
