Education Initiative
Our Education Initiative is a targeted programme designed to support three key groups within our community: foster carers and foster care professionals, children in care aged 7 to 11, and young people in care aged 12 to 16.
Through tailored, age-appropriate sessions, we help build safe, positive relationships between people and animals. For foster carers and professionals, we provide practical guidance on responsible pet ownership, understanding animal behaviour, and supporting children to interact safely with pets in the home. For children and young people, sessions are adapted to suit their age group, with a focus on empathy, safety, and confidence around animals.
By working with these groups, the initiative plays an important role in preventing animal neglect and reducing the risk of pets being relinquished, particularly in households where circumstances can change and the right support at the right time can make a lasting difference.
We are grateful to our grant providers, The John Lewis Partnership Foundation, and the Mrs DM France-Hayhurst Foundation, for making this work possible, enabling us to deliver targeted, preventative support to those who need it most.
If you are a foster care agency or family support professional, you can register your interest in booking a session for foster parents or looked after children using the link below. Sessions can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your group.
